It sure is a dog’s life…at least for miss Sophie York, David York’s cherished canine companion. The adorable Spaniel-mix celebrated her twenty-year milestone on the lawn of the Swan House at the Atlanta History Center, at an over-the-top fete’ complete with cuisine by Wolfgang Puck, a “Sophie” cake flown in from NYC by the “countess of confection” Sylvia Weinstock, Fab flora and décor by Robert Long and a “This is Your Life” video montage of Sophie.

We know that York, the Barking Hound Village founder loves dogs, as do fellow animal lovers Danielle & Glenn Rollins, Rhonda & Dusty Milner, Judy Zaban, Eileen Dubose, Elizabeth Allen, Kim Zimmerman, David’s other doggy diva Roxanne York and the lovely lady that found Sophie 18 years ago in Nashville, Shocky P’pool, who all came out or flew in, to raise a glass to the pampered pooch.

In lieu of gifts York asked that donations be made to the charity A New Leash on Life, which is holding it’s annual fundraiser on November 5, 2008 at which he is being honored. Tony Conway and Sandra Baldwin are chairs.

We wish Sophie many more birthdays to come and hope that in the next life we will be lucky enough to come back as one of David York’s dogs!
