HOPE FOR CHILDREN: A MUSICAL TRIBUTE October 27, 2007 Honorary Chair Sharon Umphenour, Co-Chair Carey Carter Hope For Children put a song in the hearts of children and well needed funds in the coffers of Murphy-Harpst Children’s Centers. Carter Barnes’s Carey Carter put down his shears and welcomed 510 guests as American Idol finalist Diana DeGarmo took the stage, following the Grady High School Marching Band and Choral Group, for this debut event. Carter was joined by co-chair Dr. Nancy Gallups and Sharon Umphenour as the honorary chairperson. Wanda Dell produced Hope For Children and Monica Pearson and Vikki Locke emceed. The event raised more than $500,000 for the severely abused children of Murphy-Harpst Children’s Centers.
