The Arthritis Foundation's Crystal Ball Patron Party was held on Wednesday, September 19, at the incredible Buckhead home of Dr. G.B. and Cheryl Espy.  Over 100 patrons (up from 30-something last year) were treated to a patron party from year's past which included a full dinner (not your typical cocktail nibbles!), highlights being the mashed potato bar and praline bar.  Prior to dinner, $100 bottles of wine from Silver Oaks Cellars were served to guests by none other than  Honorary Chair, Dr. Hugh McLeod, who will be honored with his wife, Leslie McLeod, at the 26th annual Ball, "Passion for a Cure," on Saturday, September 20, at The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead.

While sipping the wine, the chic crowd, including patron party co-chair,
Michele Gandy and husband, Dr. Winston, enjoyed the near-perfect weather from the Espy's extensive terrace, overlooking an elegant pool and grounds.  Ball Co-Chairs, Duncan and Kristen Gibbs served up the special treat prior to dessert, as guests Cary and Kimberley Ichter and Joe and Karin Smithson rushed to the Espy's museum-like lower level of their home, where Dr. Espy has amassed extensive collections of art and sports memorabilia, each represented in theme rooms.  Highlights included the Marilyn Monroe room with items owned by Ms. Monroe, such as handbags, shoes and a fur coat.  The largest room by far was the sports memorabilia room containing items from Knute Rockne, Babe Ruth, Roger Staubach and Evander Holyfield.  With the awesome wine and food, and built-in lower-level entertainment, valet was forced to politely enter the home and ask guests for their valet tic kets nearly an hour after the party end time. Late revelers included patron party co-chair Jane Dean, Eileen Rosencrants, Elizabeth and Frank Martin and Joe and Karin Smithson.
